What are the different stages of Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasite?
There are four stages of the Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasite.
- Ring
2. Trophozoite
3. Schizont
4. Gametocyte
- Ring Form :- Ring form of p.faliciparum consists of 2 or more rings with small chromatin dot.
- Trophozoite stage :- Trophozoites are compact, vacuolated and sometimes having two chromatin dots
- Schizonts :- Schizont stage of plasmodium falciparum consist of 18-24 merozoites filling 2/3 of the cell
- Gametocytes :- Gametocyte stage of plasmodium falciparum is Crescent and banana shaped,diffuse chromatin and single nucleus.
Note:- The size of infected red blood cells remains unchanged as before normal size.
