These are the 5 most important questions of ‘THE Tiger King’ from Vista Class 12 English of CBSE/NCERT syllabus in simple and easy notes.

Question 1. Who was the Tiger King and how did he get this name?

Answer. The tiger king was the king of Pritibandapuram and he had many names like Highness Jamedar-General, Khiledar-Major, Sata Vyaghra Samhari, Maharajadhiraja Viva Bhuvana Samrat, Sir Jilani Jung Jung Bahadur, M.A.D., A.C.T.C., or C.R.C.K. He was famously called ‘The Tiger King’ because he was crazy about killing tigers and he to prove the astrologer’s prediction wrong so he had to kill 100 tigers to do that.

Question 2. How was the Tiger King brought up?

Answer. The tiger king was brought up very differently as he was taken care or brought up by an English nanny and tutored in English by an Englishman. Moreover, he was given the milk of an English cow. He only watched English movies.

Question 3. What did the high-ranking British official want? Was his wish fulfilled?

Answer. The high-ranking British official wanted to get a photographed clicked with a dead tiger to show his daring. In reality, he was a coward man because when the king refused his wish, the British official even agreed to get clicked with a dead tiger killed by the king himself. But the king refused for this too because had he agreed, other officials too would have come to kill more tigers. So the officer’s wish remained unfulfilled.

Question 4. Why and how did the dewan take the tiger into the forest?

Answer. The dewan had hidden an old tiger in his home which he brought from People’s Park in Madras. He was scared that if Maharaja did not get the last tiger to hunt, dewan’s own job would be in danger. Therefore, he and his wife dragged the tiger into the back seat of the car and dropped him near the place where the king was hunting.

Question 5. Did the Tiger King actually kill the 100th tiger?

Answer. No, the Tiger King did not kill the 100th tiger. The tiger had only fainted when he heard Maharaja’s bullet. It had fainted and did not die then. On knowing this, the hunters were scared that if Maharaja would know that he had missed the shot then their jobs would be in danger. So the hunters shot dead the tiger from a point blank range.
