  8. 21st June has been taken as International Day of Yoga as it is the largest day of the year in the northern hemisphere and has a special significance in many parts of the world.
  9. In India, Shiva is first guru of yoga and transmitted the practice of yoga to the Saptarishis. Yoga was taught to the people by Saptarishis.
  10. The ministry of AYUSH made the grand celebration of first International Day of Yoga in India. Approximately 35,985 people gathered at Rajpath in New Delhi including Prime Minister and dignitaries from 84 nations and performed 21 asanas (yoga postures) for 35 minutes.
